Welcome to my new blog. My goal is to start a conversation about Omaha: what it means to live and work here, what we love about our city, what we can do to preserve its heritage, and what we might do to make it better.
My special interest is real estate, and my special expertise is representing buyers, so you’ll find a lot of information in that category. At the same time, I have many other interests, so you never know what the topic might be! I hope to post several times a week, and welcome your comments, questions, and observations.
Over the 53 years of my life, while pursuing an education and through a couple of career changes, I have lived in these cities:
- Greenville, South Carolina
- Syracuse, New York
- Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania
- Cherry Hill, New Jersey
- Warsaw, Indiana
- Tigard, Oregon
- Woodstock, Illinois
- Sarasota, Florida, and
- Omaha, Nebraska
Each of these cities has something to commend it. And every city has its shortcomings. However, my wife and I have lived in Omaha for several years now, and plan to make this our final home – including into retirement.
So why choose Omaha over the white sugar beaches of Sarasota, or the mountains and forests of Oregon, or the beautiful fall foliage of upstate New York and Pennsylvania? What makes any of us choose the place we live? Do we really have a choice? We’ll explore these and many other questions in the weeks ahead, and I’d enjoy hearing why you have chosen to make your home in Omaha.
