Welcome to the Heartland! The greater Omaha metro area is home to approximately 800,000 people. It’s a unique place with all the amenities of much bigger cities, but the hometown feel of an ordinary Midwest town. It’s a city with civic pride, a strong work ethic, great schools, and friendly people.
Omaha was established in 1854 on the western bank of the Missouri River. Its name, according to Indian language, means "upstream” or "against the current.” It is home to one of the best zoos in the world, and the annual host of the NCAA Men’s College World Series.
